Luxembourg's Ministry of Higher Education and Research has announced that the student finance administration, Cedies, has treated all 23,800 files which have been received, just one month after the deadline of 1 May 2016 in respect of the 2015/2016 summer semester; compared to the summer semester of the 2014/2015 academic year, the processing time has again been shortened considerably.
From 1 January 2016, circa 6,000 files were introduced per month and the average processing time for all applications was 18 calendar days.
More than 22,900 instances of financial aid were granted and about 400 cases remain to be finalised following an incomplete state of the application submitted. 460 cases were notified with a negative response.
Since the beginning of the 2015/2016 academic year, students can submit their applications for financial assistance for higher education online via Guichet.lu. This helps on one hand to increase the quality of applications and files and, on the other hand, to reduce time for the file to be processed at Cedies. During the summer semester, about 3,100 students took advantage of this new tool.
