LuxairGroup today announced the acquisition of a new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, due to be put into operation this December.

Built in 2015, the aircraft holds 186 seats and is fitted with the Boeing Sky Interior derived from the Boeing 787. It was originally ordered by and delivered to Air Berlin, but never flown by the airline.

Under the registration LX-LBB, the new aircraft is due to be predominantly used by LuxairTours, providing additional capacity for the winter season.

Luxair seized this opportunity in view of the relatively long lead times orders for such aircraft currently placed with Boeing imply, with delivery taking place in 2017 at the earliest.

The aircraft flew from Berlin to Luxembourg on Thursday evening, with its maiden commercial flight scheduled for December 2015.
