The companies Deme and Jan De Nul Group will be responsible for the enlargement of the old port of Doha in Qatar, which is being redesigned to conform to the booming cruise industry.

The redevelopment programme of approximately €100 million has been implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the State of Qatar and will be executed by Deme and Jan De Nul Group in a joint venture.

Once constructed, the redesigned port will serve as a terminal for cruise ships and will accommodate the most comprehensive cruises of this generation.

Dredging requires modification of the access channel layout and construction of a new, more adequate pier, with work beginning in 2018.
