The Luxembourg City Tourist Office has announced more than 200 Christmas concerts and other events as part of this year's "Winterlights" festival.

This year, the programme, organised in collaboration with the Ville de Luxembourg and Christmas market vendors, centres around three themes: children's entertainment, concerts and mobile performances.

The entertainment programme will focus on the following four Christmas markets and, depending on the location, covers different themes. Concerning  entertainment, the Place de la Constitution is the emblematic place to celebrate Christmas for children. As such, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will offer a programme for children aged 4-12 from 15:00-17:00. Activities include a magician, creative workshops, the "Bimbo Theatre" and musical entertainment. On Sundays, the focus will be mainly on mobile groups, whilst in the evening, from Tuesday to Saturday from 19:00, visitors will find a themed music programme. Meanwhile, the bandstand at Place d'Armes will be occupied by choirs, fanfares and harmonies, orchestras and singers from 12:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and from 16:00 from Monday to Thursday.

As in previous years an ice rink will welcome small and big fans of skiing in Place Guillaume II. From Monday to Wednesday until 21:00, background music accompanies the skaters. On Thursday, a thematic "music mix" will add to the atmosphere from 21:00 and on Friday, a DJ will animate the ice rink until 22:00. Every Saturday evening from 19:00 to 22:00 live music will also be on offer. Sunday is reserved for artistic family- and children-oriented activities. Among the various activities on and around the skating rink, visitors can choose between children's skating lessons with an instructor or a balloon sculpting, ice sculpture workshops and jugglers.

Finally, choirs, fanfares and harmonies as well as a mobile group will enliven the Christmas market at Place de Paris.
