On Tuesday 16 February 2016, director André Maurice will be taking an audience at the Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck (CAPE) on an Argentinian cinematic adventure as part of the 'World Exploration' series.
Following in the footsteps of previous journeys to Rome and South Africa, the newest installment in the World Exploration series will visit heritage treasures, the Salina Grandes, ruins, geological parks and neighbourhoods in the capital of Buenos Aires.
In Buenos Aires, viewers will encounter lively urban neighbourhoods, heritage sites and buildings, and mythical figures before moving on to the Misiones province, home to a Guarani Indian heritage. Before exploring the natural splendour of Patagonia, the film will highlight the fauna of the subtropical forest, the imposing Iguazú Falls and the culture of the gauchos in La Pampa.
The second part of the journey begins in the province of Salta and Jujuy, against the backdrop of the surreal salt flat Salinas Grandes. Weavers in Cachi and winegrowers in Cafayate and Mendoza will demonstrate their expertise and reveal the richness of the Argentine terroir. Through visits to the Quilmes ruins and the rare geological and paleontological attractions of national and provincial parks, spectators will have the opportunity to dive into Argentinian history, and the adventure will come to an end with an evening of tango at the milongas of Buenos Aires.
