British Ambassador to Luxembourg, H.E. John Marshall, visited Guardian Glass' float glass plant in Bascharage on Tuesday for a tour alongside Guardian Glass in Europe leadership.
The official delegation also comprised Thomas Flammant, Trade & Investment Adviser and Yvonne White, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy. Together, the guests were able to witness firsthand how the full float glass manufacturing process from the batch house, where the raw materials are stored and mixed, through the furnace, melting and cooling process, and finally to glass cutting and packing.
Founded in the United States, Guardian was first established in Europe in 1981 with the construction of the float glass plant in Bascharage. It has since expanded to include 10 float glass plants across Europe and Russia, managed by over 4,000 employees. In 1984, the plant added a tempered glass production line and an advanced magnetron sputter coater designed for production of reflective and low-emissivity coated products. Growing customer demand saw a second sputter coater added three years later.
