Diversity is a highly important topic in Luxembourg, particularly - but not only - on the International Diversity Day, which again this year took place on 12 May.

As in the past year, members of the Small Business Initiative, a group of small businesses and those self-employed, came up with a special way to draw attention to the subject of diversity: with more than 1,000 balloons in the colours of the Diversity Charter, yesterday afternoon the group marched from the Place d'Armes, where Luxembourg's Minister for the Family, Corinne Cahen, herself launched the walk at 14:30, via Rue Philippe II, the Glacis and Grand Duchess Charlotte bridge towards the Philharmonie on Place de l'Europe in Kirchberg.

There, the colorful balloons were released around 16:00 under much applause.

The initiators of the "Awareness Walk", led by Catharina Biver of Sparx Factory, are sure that they will draw even further attention to the importance of diversity with a similar action in the coming years, to promote diversity and harmonious coexistence among all.

In order to emphasise this, the group chose to give all profit collected from the Awareness Walk for Diversity 2016 from the sales of balloons, to Special Olympics Luxembourg. The success of this year's action proves the initiators right and it will be interesting to see what the group comes up with next year.

The Small Business Initiative’s Awareness Walk was this year generously sponsored by Atoz, Baloise, Bureau Center, Charles Oakes and Vodafone.

The founders of the Small Business Initiative include Sparx Factory S.A. (Catharina Biver); Look@Work (Florence Lemeer-Wintgens); LeneLife (Lene Pedersen); Luxe Taste & Style Publishing (KACHEN Magazin)(Bibi Wintersdorf).
