The third in the series of films from the Insurgent series of books by Veronica Roth. Set in a dystopian future, Beatrice (Tris) Prior (Shailene Woodley) has now toppled Jeanine but Chicago becomes almost lawless, with Evelyn (Naomi Watts) unforgiving. She decides the future lies outside, so a band plots to get over the wall to go in search of the truth of what lies beyond. Aften an initial horiffic discovery she, Four (Theo James) and the others are taken in by another group, the Bureau of Genetic Welfare, led by David (Jeff Daniels) who convinces Tris that he is on her side. But Four is suspicious...

A step up from Insurgent, Allegiant delivers a better storyline and special effects, even if the ending is clear from the outset; but it is the path they take and the characters they meet and situations they encounter that make this a higely enjoyable cinematic ride.

In a similar vein to The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner and even Twilight, Allegiant offers teenagers, young adults and even older adults a two-hour experience that offers escapism from reality as well as food for thought, particularly in the run-up to the US presedential elections.
