At the latest ING Solidarity Awards, ING Luxembourg offered winners from the first four editions of the project competition the opportunity to gain new resources via a new form of fundraising.
In partnership with KissKissBankBank, a well-known online crowdfunding platform, the winners got the chance to get to know this financing alternative better, with ING Luxembourg organising an information session for them.
Following the session, Special Olympics, one of the winning organisations, decided to launch its own campaign, the first crowdfunding campaign from Luxembourg on KissKissBankBank. The goal of this non-profit-making organisation is to offer people with mental disabilities the opportunity to thrive thanks to sport.
The goal of their crowdfunding campaign was to raise €5,500 to finance a training camp for the 22 athletes (from sports including Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing) who make up the Luxembourg Special Olympics team for the next World Winter Games, which will take place in Austria in 2017.
The Special Olympics succeeded in mobilising donors, reaching 130% of the group's goal, greatly surpassing it with €7,138 raised from the crowdfunding campaign!
"In collaboration with our partner KissKissBankBank, ING Luxembourg has provided these organisations with information about crowdfunding as a new fundraising tool. ING Luxembourg is proud to have contributed to developing their resources for taking action. And the results from the Special Olympics campaign have encouraged us to continue on this path!", said Stéphanie Deitz, CSR & Diversity Coordinator at ING Luxembourg.
