The Transadlibit percussion duo is teaming up with performing arts group The Story In Motion Project to premier a musical/spoken word performance piece merging the music of Dutch avant-garde composer Jacob ter Veldhuis with the short story All Gold Canyon by American author Jack London.
The charity concert at the Kulturhaus in Niederanven at 20:00 on Monday 2 May 2016 will aid PLAN through Mateneen Fir Kanner (www.mateneenfirkanner.org) - PLAN is one of the oldest and largest children help organisations working in over 50 developing countries, independent of religion or politics. In 2016, Mateneen Fir Kanner projects focus on the development and expansion of schools and kindergartens, the training of teachers and the water and sanitation supplies in post-tsunami Sri Lanka.
The Transadlibit Duo was created by Luxembourger Michel Mootz and Canadian Chris Hastings (grand prize winner of the 2008 Percussive Arts solo competition in Fermo Italy). The two percussionists perform regularly with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg and the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg. Inspired by a shared musical vision they started up Transadlibit which led to the world première of The Celestials of Sago lane by composer Kerry Turner for percussion soloists and orchestra in the Luxembourg Philharmonie.
Transadlibit’s repertoire varies from Baroque to contemporary music and includes a myriad of percussive instrumental combinations.
The Story In Motion Project is an international performing arts group, started by Timothy Lone, which explores storytelling through improvisation, voice, movement and music.
GOLDEN THEMES
The Klondike gold rush was a frenzied and somewhat dark period in North American history, where the discovery of gold led many people to drop everything in search of fortune. Some were lucky and found their fortune, but most came home empty-handed or got lost forever in this unforgiving barren land. The Transadlibit duo and The Story In Motion Project will take the audience on an adventure with the music of Goldrush by Jacob ter Veldhuis in combination with a spoken word performance of the short story All Gold Canyon by Jack London.
Jacob ter Vedlhuis is a world-renowned Dutch composer, winner of the BUMA award for best Dutch Export product of 2015.
Jack London’s writing lends itself perfectly to this musical piece. Renowned for his evocative writing in which he describes the harsh realities of frontier life as well as the beauty of the majestic North American landscape, he is quite simply the voice of the Gold Rush.
