Luxembourgish bank BGL BNP Paribas recently organised a conference entitled “Artificial Intelligence- Key to a Glorious Future or End of Mankind?”, as part of its “Doers & Thinkers” conference series.
The conference on artificial intelligence was led by Professor Dr Marco Gercke, the director of the Cybercrime Research Institute, who covered the subject from different angles. Professor Dr Marco Gercke is a globally renowned expert in cybercrime and cybersecurity, who has advised governments and international organisations, such as the EU and the UN, for over 15 years and in 80 different countries.
He was also a member of the High Level Expert Group which advises the International Union of Telecommunications in the process of developing the Global Cybersecurity Agenda (GCA), as well as being a scientific advisor to Europol.
During the conference, Marco Gercke stated that: “Artificial Intelligence will change societies fundamentally. Yes, there will be fascinating opportunities for research and innovation … but also, in a number of areas, humans will no longer be able to compete with machines!"
