On Thursday 19 October 2017, the 7th annual Green Innovation Summit was held at the Espace Namur in Luxembourg-Hamm attracting an audience of over 150 people.
Following the conference which addressed primarilt the Circular Economy, the Green Business Awards 2017 were announced, as follows:
- Green Strategy of the Year: Sales Lentz (also nominated: EBRC, Société Générale Bank & Trust)
- Green Technology Award: APATEQ (also nominated: AIO Technologies, Casius Mircea Morea & Sascha Born)
- Green Building Award: Miscanthus.lu (also nominated: AIO Technologies, BGL BNP Paribas)
- Green Consumer Award: OUNI (also nominated: Association Moldova Luxembourg, BIOG MOLKEREI, ZenOnCar)
- Green Mobility Award: Sales Lentz (also nominated: ALD Automotive Luxembourg, ZenOnCar)
The Luxembourg Green Business awards aim to highlight the best initiatives and good practices of Luxembourg actors.
For Sales-Lentz, its innovative initiatives and the creation of new structures in recent months were recognised: The first "opportunity charging" station and Diffbus, the first 100% electric municipal public network in the world. In addition, Sales-Lentz's e-Mobility fleet consists of 6 electric buses, 12 electric hybrids and 36 hybrids.
The group's technical director Georges Hilbert underlined "We said that the future is going to be electric, yet the present is already."
The Green Strategy Award, highlights Sales-Lentz for its environmental innovations and its socially responsible commitment to sustainable development. This is demonstrated through the status of the Luxembourg leader in Smart Mobility and the promotion of urban and sustainable eco-mobility. The company also conducts a CSR policy labeled ESR by the INDR since 2010. In this regard, Georges Hilbert explaind that the strategy of the company at the level of the missions and visions has been fully reviewed since 2009, in order to renew the fleet, connect and digitalise it to reduce CO2 emissions.
APATEQ was honoured for its containerised water treatment system "WaterPaq", using innovative technologies that enable to treat different streams of water with one single installation to an effluent of fresh (drinking) water quality.
“Our engineers managed to combine very efficiently the process installation with sophisticated software so that the plant is self-adjusting its operation parameters according to the inlet water”, stated APATEQ CAO Mireille Wellenreiter, who received the award during the festive ceremony of the Green Innovation Summit. “Being honoured by the national conference for clean technology for the third time in a row makes us particularly proud. Thus, APATEQ builds a solid rock of the Luxembourg clean-tech community.”
The Green Innovation Summit identifies and honours leading developments in the clean-tech sector and brings together the domestic clean-tech community.
