A total of 209 applications for international protection were received in Luxembourg last month.

September 2018 saw the submission of 209 applications for asylum to the Luxembourg Department of Immigration. This represents a decrease in the number of applications received in August (223) this year, but a slight increase from the 192 applications received in September 2017.

The majority of the asylum applications last month came from people leaving Eritrea (53), followed by and Syria (21) and Iraq (20). Applications mainly came from the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa, with only two coming from Venezuela on the American continent.

The total number of applications for 2018 so far is 1,520.
