On Friday 5 October 2018, Luxembourg's Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna, visited the Luxembourg Science Center in Differdange, in the process becoming the 47,370th visitor.

On 21 September, the cabinet of Luxembourg's Government approved the signing of a letter of intent which provides for a significant expansion of the Luxembourg Science Center. Located in Differdange, the Luxembourg Science Center offers a multitude of interactive workshops and experimental stations that invite the public, and especially children and young people, to discover sciences and technologies aimed at developing their interest in STEM (sciences, technologies, engineering and maths).

Since it opened in October 2017, the centre has welcomed 47,370 visitors, including more than 22,000 children and young people for school or extra-curricular activities.

The government is supporting the expansion of the centre with the development of the gas station housing the Groussgasmaschinn, thus preserving the industrial heritage while combining educational and cultural aspects. The Luxembourg Science Center is destined to become a flagship project and a true magnet for Luxembourg, contributing to the diversification and development of the south of the country.

During his visit, Minister Gramegna welcomed the success that the Luxembourg Science Center has had in recent years with children, young people and the general public. He said "Here, as in Esch-Belval, where the economic development of our country was developed at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the iron and steel industry, a new chapter for the economy of our country is written. On the same site where the "Léierbud" of ARBED trained its new recruits, today the Luxembourg Science Center raises new vocations in the trades of the technologies of tomorrow. This is the passage from "red earth" to "grey matter!"
